Road - Park Runs - Bournemouth - 20131228 Bournemouth park run 28 Dec 13 09:04 20:50 3.096 8.92 6:44 174 181 6:24 21view on os maps 6:24  6:50  6:58  6:32 Sonic Glove First 5km run since my 10k mo run in Novemeber. I ran 2 miles last Monday and my left knee was fine, so as we were in Bouremouth this weekend I decided to do my December park run here. The course is maybe 70% tarmac with the rest being grass or mud, and as its been so wet recently I decided to wear my Merrel sonic gloves as they're more waterproof than my other shoes. They were a good choice, but very slippery on the mud (nearly went over once) but by the last mile I was heel striking on the tarmac due to tiredness, and I also notice my left achilees was tender when running up the small inclines. I set off at a good pace, not too fast, but after a mile I was slowing and couldnt maintain 6:26 pace. After two miles I was truly knackered, and even contemplated walking, but I kept running and finished about 15th, but my hr was very high all the way round, and my breathing, legs, everything really, were at nearly max. The course isnt as fast as Cardiff, but it didnt account for my poor speed - 6 weeks of no running can be the only reason. The good news is that my left knee never even twinged during the run, or after. However my left foot/ankle is tender after the run, but that could be due to the shoes...?
Road - Bute Park - 2 miles - 20131223 Bute park 2 miles 23 Dec 13 12:09 17:13 2.348 8.18 7:20 170 177 7:16 533view on os maps 7:16  7:26  7:15 Sonic Glove Another  test run, 12 days after my previous one where my left knee had hurt a little.  This time I wore Sonic gloves as it was a bit wet, and I managed the full run, all ran correctly with no heel strikes, and no knee pain at all. It wasn't an easy run though, considering the not too fast pace, but I expected that after all my time off.
Road - Around home - 20131014 Around home 1 mile 13 Oct 13 16:09 09:27 1.074 6.82 8:48 145 160 8:47 17view on os maps 8:47  9:03 Sonic Glove A short but hilly run in the pouring rain after an hours turbo (20 min ftp test!) - wore Sonic gloves and ran 'properly' but left foot got sore half way round. They're slippy on green wet tarmac too.
Trail - 20130627 Bute park trail 27 Jun 13 12:33 20:28 2.565 7.52 7:59 146 155 7:55 35view on os maps 8:05  7:55  7:55 Sonic Glove First run since Satudays triathlon, and since pulling my shoulder on Tuesday morning, so have had 4 days off. Felt fine, very easy as planned. Stuck to the nud trails (bone dry) and didn't heel strike once. Legs felt a little wobbly after the run.
Road - Bute Park - 3 miles - 20130509 Bute park 3 miles 09 May 13 07:30 26:28 3.623 8.21 7:18 154 163 7:08 56view on os maps 7:42  7:08  7:09  7:12 Sonic Glove Was going to run 10 or even 13 miles this morning, but when I got to work I didnt have my hr strap, so instead decided to a short run in the Sonic gloves (I did have my swimming hr strap and watch). Felt good when I started so made the runa bit longer than I expected it would be. Ran correctly in the shoes, without a single heel strike, but did run half off road. Middle toes are sore afterwards, I suspect because my feet get pushed forward into the shoe at each step, I think I extend my foot a bit far during each stride. Apart from toes no real problems, cales etc a little achey but the best they've felt after a run in shoes like this.
Road - Bute Park - 2 miles - 20130425 Bute park 2 miles 25 Apr 13 06:58 16:02 2.277 8.52 7:02 159 166 6:54 37view on os maps 6:54  7:01  7:41 Sonic Glove  Easy half mile, fast half mile, easyish half mile, hardish fast mile. The hard bits were hard! Breathing was tough again.  Ran 'properly' in the sonic gloves, perhaps even too much forefront and not letting the heel land at all for long stretches, but feet and legs are fine afterwards (though some toe ends are a bit sore from rubbing).
Road - Bute Park - Fast mile attempts - 20130418 Bute park fast mile 18 Apr 13 07:40 08:25 1.276 9.10 6:36 159 167 6:28 17view on os maps 6:28  7:04 Sonic Glove Was hoping for a sub 6 minute mile, but was way off (6:21) - hr is low, its my breathing; I was wheezing like an old man!
Road - Bute Park - 4 miles - 20130222 Bute park 4 miles 22 Feb 13 12:42 29:59 4.184 8.37 7:10 157 169 6:55 56view on os maps 7:20  7:16  7:07  6:55  7:20 Sonic Glove Right foot has been a little sore since Wednesday, but thought I would go out in the Sonic gloves and see how I felt. Did 4 miles in the end which is good, but felt hard, especially considering the slowish pace. I did run 'correctly', perhaps even too much on the forefoot at times without letting the heel touch the ground, and half the run was off-tarmac. Calves feel tight after the run, and both feet are a little sore all over really. 34 miles run in the past 7 days!
Road - Bute Park - 2 miles - 20130131 Bute park 2 miles 31 Jan 13 12:27 18:36 2.510 8.10 7:25 154 161 7:24 37view on os maps 7:24  7:27  7:22 Sonic Glove  Just a short easy(ish) run in the sonic gloves. Ran at least a mile on mud track and the football fields - very slippery and quite hard work. Feet were fine, may have been heel striking a little. Pretty windy too.
Road - Bute Park - 1 mile - 20130117 Bute park 17 Jan 13 12:20 09:03 1.282 8.50 7:04 154 163 7:05 17view on os maps 7:05  6:58 Sonic Glove First run in Sonic Gloves. (have done 3 or 4 fast 2-3 mile walks last week). Not uncomfortable at all (was expecting them to feel very hard/flat) but I think I was slightly heel striking at the start, and each foot landing was quite noisy. After half a mile or so managed to improve that and started landing better, but it was a little tough. Not sure if still sore from Sundays 20 miler, but dont feel super fit/fast at the moment. 24+ miles in 5 days, might take a few days off and then try a fast 10k next week.
