It was late when I started so I had my head torch on pretty much all the way. I couldn't risk injury so again more of a fast walk than a run, though the last couple of miles are very smooth so I ran those back to the car. No rain this time, but in cloud for the upper half. Route finding was mostly ok, but over the bare rock sections it was very easy to go wrong so I had to back track sometimes. Didn't see a single other person at all. It was windy and cold on the summit (which I had a little trouble finding in the cloud!). I went up the pyg and down the miners track.
Trail - Cadair Idris - 20170414 Cadair Idris 14 Apr 17 16:13 2:07:26 6.110 2.88 20:51 0 0 14:52 1095view on os maps 18:17  23:52  23:27  26:37  19:25  14:52  8:16 New Balance MT110 The second of the Welsh 3 peaks today. First time ever up this route - the path was obvious for most of the way, just a bit vague on the plateau / downhill before the summit. Again wet, with more rain than pen y fan this morning. Summit was in cloud again, and half way up I got cold so stopped to put gloves and hat on (was already in full waterproofs). Stopped at the top for several minutes in the shelter to put my black mammut insulsted layer on as knew it would be cold coming down. Not so much a run as a fast walk, not knowing the route at all, but I did run the flatter bits when I could.
Trail - 20161127 trail run - southern down 27 Nov 16 14:23 41:02 3.800 5.56 10:48 145 163 10:16 238view on os maps 10:16  11:40  13:00  7:38 New Balance MT110 Over 4 years since I last ran here - did a similar route, down the ladders etc - very nice
Road - Other - 20140418 Oxwich beach run 18 Apr 14 17:12 30:47 4.007 7.81 7:41 143 161 7:23 14view on os maps 7:23  7:46  8:03  7:32  0:00 New Balance MT110 A tougher than expected run along a damp but hard packed beach. Over half was on that wobbly wavey sand so not too comfortable to run on, but otherwise an ok run.
Trail - Gower - 20140416 Mumbles Trail run 16 Apr 14 15:25 28:30 3.108 6.54 9:10 149 168 8:41 177view on os maps 8:41  9:03  9:51  8:18 New Balance MT110 50% tarmac which was unexpected (all offroad, just a paved path), a bit of beach in the middle, and then hard packed dry mud trail back up over the top. Again nothing hurt, no probs, nice run, but I was very hot when I finished.
Trail - Gower - 20140413 Oxwich Trail run 13 Apr 14 15:59 30:42 3.107 6.07 9:53 0 0 8:31 195view on os maps 9:45  8:31  11:33  8:07 New Balance MT110 1 day after a 20:05 parkrun. Proper trail run, very little tarmac. Started off with a long gentle climb on hard mud, then over the top on dry short grass, down round the headland and then lots and lots of steps up (reduced to a slow walk at one point), followed by 270-odd steps down (we walked the same route later that evening). I didnt wear the hr strap (couldnt find it) but it was tough! Very enjoyable though, lovely surroundings. Shoes were fine.
Trail - Pembrokeshire - 20130531 Carn Llidi 31 May 13 18:31 30:47 2.771 5.40 11:06 145 171 9:27 210view on os maps 9:27  14:59  8:13 New Balance MT110 A run up the 'mountain' near Whitesands beach. Very pleasent running around the headland, up the side of the mountain. Concrete pathway to the first summit, then a bit of a scramble and a tiny bit of 'climbing' onto the very top. Views for miles and miles, then back down the quick way. Nothin hurt, but after the run my left foot is sensitive inside between the toes, think the slapping of the feet coming down the hill and road havent done any good.
Trail - Pembrokeshire - 20130531 Penberry hill 31 May 13 08:43 26:52 2.803 6.26 9:35 148 168 8:39 125view on os maps 8:39  11:51  7:56 New Balance MT110 Quick run up the 'mountain' next to the campsite. Very pleasant run, cool wind blowing around the campsite so I wore the blue windproof top, but by the time I was on the top I was far too hot. Had to walk up the very steepest bits at the top, but otherwise a good run. Now to beat the time next time...
Trail - 20130504 Trail Run - Llywn Hir 04 May 13 15:21 28:23 2.937 6.21 9:40 149 166 9:11 153view on os maps 10:21  9:11  9:26 New Balance MT110 We went to the bluebell woods as the weather was sunny and warm, but pretty windy. I'd done a 19:20 5km park run this morning but the trails are perfect for running at the moment so thought I might as well get a few trail miles in. Tough start to the run up a steep hill, really gets the hr going from the start. Trails are perfect, dump, very rare muddy section, lush green wild garlic and bluebells everywhere. Got a little unsure of where I was at one point, round the back - I was expecting the quarry on my left but it never appeared so I cut back into the woods. Would have been fine staying on the fire road but much prefer the woddland trails. No probs during the run but now afterwards my left foot is very tender if I load it a certain way, must have strained something a little. Need to do more trail runs! Need to find the good paths in these woods, and explore them more.
Trail - 20130414 Trail run - Asda Coryton 14 Apr 13 13:22 26:58 3.114 6.93 8:39 152 166 7:52 92view on os maps 7:52  8:48  9:09  10:03 New Balance MT110 Wet and muddy, but 12C, no wind, so really quite warm. Tougher than I expected, still tired after yesterdays Black Mountains mtb ride The gps data is offset incorrectly for the first half mile.
Trail - 20121223 Trail run - Cefn Onn 23 Dec 12 15:19 32:02 3.649 6.84 8:47 153 172 7:53 236view on os maps 9:32  9:20  7:53  8:08 New Balance MT110 The gps track is quite a bit out going up, I didnt go across the golf course like it suggest. My run was an out and back aparts from the final mile which is correctly shown on the other side of the train track. A tough climb today, very slow, very wet, but not cold at all. An OK run.

I wasn't killing myself going 100%, just taking it nice and easy. Several gates etc to stop for too.  The 'bluebells' section (from MTB rides) was extremely slippery, had to go at walking pace. Someone has built 105 steps up/down the hillside. The route came out halfway down but I ran up to the top just to see (more hills) and then all the way down them. Wore shorts and Rab Vapor Lite top (and socks with mt110's). Was comfortably warm, sometimes a bit sweaty. Feet got cold every time a puddle washed into the shoes but they quickly stopped feeling cold after each dunking.  The following day my right calf is quite sore - any walking causes quite a bit of pain. Must have over-stretched it jumping puddles or landing in deep mud perhaps?
Trail - 20121020 Trail run - Southerndown 20 Oct 12 12:43 39:00 3.744 5.76 10:25 155 172 9:40 264view on os maps 9:40  11:16  12:11  7:51 New Balance MT110 A very scenic, but very tough run! A lot of climbing and descending, thin off-camber paths, rocky sections, 100-odd steps, and 2 ladders (one 10 rungs, one 30 rungs) to get down to the beach at the turn around point. I had to walk a little bit after climbing the ladders back up, totally knackered. I'll definately do this run again. (though I wont miss the left turn shortly after the ladders next time. No pain, no problems. Time it right (maybe 2 hours either side of low tide?) and a nice run along the beach at the ladders would be possible.
Trail - 20120929 Trail run - Garth Hill 29 Sep 12 14:34 29:58 2.929 5.86 10:14 150 169 9:47 229view on os maps 9:47  11:43  9:07 New Balance MT110 A tough run up the Garth Hill. From the parking spot it only took 5 minutes to get to the top, so I ran east along the top until it started descending and turned right and ran down a steep hill to a nice spot with a great view, then followed the path down to the road. Several sets of rock steps kept things interesting. At the road I could have run 0.5km along the road to finish the loop (and probably do another) but decided to turn around and retrace my syeps, so that I didnt have any road miles at all. The initial climb was tough but I 'ran' it all; some of the descents were really pretty steep so I plodded down them ungracefully (dry though, so no slipping). On the return leg the climb from the road was vough and had me walking some bits, I was breathing extremely hard and slobbering everywhere. Some steep bits I just couldnt run at all. Overall a good run, with some tough challenges and some technical singletrack - I'll do it again.
Trail - 20120906 Trail run - Pentwyn pool woods 06 Sep 12 13:34 18:04 2.038 6.77 8:52 156 173 8:29 67view on os maps 8:29  9:16  8:08 New Balance MT110 A quick run before my swim - wanted to do about two miles, in the new mt110 (only done one previous run in them sofar). I didnt wear any socks to see how it felt.. fine, no rubbing or sore points, but crikey, when your foot lands in a muddy puddle its instantly cold and wet! First mile was on grassy fields so quite quick for a trail run, but then I randomly ran around some woods which slowed things right down. Had to climb over falled trees, jump over things, even used stepping stones across the stream near the end of the run. Good fun, and a good workout too (two steepish climbs in the second half too, good to get the hr up). Toes were very muddy when I finished (but got nice and clean in the pool).
Trail - 20120902 Trail run - Llanishen reservoir 02 Sep 12 16:33 26:13 3.157 7.23 8:18 148 162 7:55 59view on os maps 7:55  8:44  8:11  8:47 New Balance MT110  I cycled from home to the nearest woods, intending to do 100% off-road running... but I couldn't find a route around the north end of the reservoirs so had to to just over a mile on road.
